Combining the four bad habits of smoking, drinking too much, not being active and a poor diet can age you by 12 years according to a new study. The study tracked about 5,000 adults for 20 years. Overall, 314 people were studied all of which engaged in all four of the unhealthy behaviors. 91 of them died during the study. In the healthiest group of 387 people who did not engage in the unhealthy habits, 32 died. The risky behaviors included smoking tobacco, drinking more than three alcoholic drinks per day for men and two for women, getting less than two hours of physical activity per week and eating vegetables and fruit fewer than three times a day. The more health behaviors you engage in the better, but you don’t need to be extreme. If you can get yourself disciplined on an exercise plan and eat better than you’re on your way.
