Orange Tomatoes a Cancer Fighter
April 3rd, 2008 by Tom Cobb
Tomatoes contain lycopene which is a potent antioxidant which helps against cancer. Ohio State did a test with tangerine tomatoes and red roma tomatoes. They found that people absorbed more lycopene from the tangerine tomatoes, about two and a half more times the roma tomatoes. Lycopene is fat soluble which really helps in absorption. When concentrated in pastes or sauces, the lycopene is more tightly bound to the vegetable fiber, thus getting more of the antioxidant. Now there’s an excuse for more pizza and pasta!
