Gum Disease May Cause a Higher Cancer Risk
June 4th, 2008 by Tom Cobb
This article talks about studies done on men with periodontal disease and how they may have a higher risk for cancer. The studies show that those with the disease had a 14 percent higher risk of cancer than those who did not have the disease. It was even higher in those that smoked. It also reported that those with gum infections can have an increased amount of inflammatory markers that are circulating in their blood which is also linked to cancer. Might be a good idea to pay more attention to the health of your gums and teeth and make sure you keep your flossing up!
