Recent studies have shown that a lack in vitamin D is linked to heat disease, cancer, immune dysfunction and cardiovascular disease. Minimal sun exposure daily can really help increasing levels as well as certain foods. Fish, eggs, fortified milk and cod liver oil are the best ways to get vitamin D through food. Vitamin D helps maintain levels of calcium and phosphorous which is crucial to bone health. Many dermatologists now say that some sun exposure is ok but just be sure not to burn. Talk to your doctor about your vitamin D levels.
